Peaceful waves

I've done it! I have finally finished my very lovely snuggily Moorland Blanket from the yarn pack I bought way back in September last year.

I love the colourway - it blends so well through the grass colours, into the heathers and then to the beautiful colours of the sky.

I had difficult choosing a four colour border so I stuck with the 3 colours liked best together and that I felt went well with the blanket all the way through the colour phases. Now I'm all ready to snuggle up on the sofa - may have to wait a few months though!

I'm also putting a few repairs into Sam's old toddler blanket, it's seen a lot of love over the years and from being on Sam's bed since he was tiny it is starting to unravel in a few places... hopefully I can keep it together for a few more years!

Blanket is from an Attic24 wool pack - the Moorland blanket. So soft and snuggly already!

Cuddly blanket

I've finished my baby blanket for the Cwtch of comfort project that my wonderful sister Liz is collecting squares and blankets for.

My blanket is made using the lovely 'Circle of friends' square designed by Patrica Hewitt and because of the bobbles it is lovely and cuddly.

For the boarders I worked even more bobbles to match the squares and I'm so pleased with them.

My blanket is 4x4 6" squares boarded in white and then joined together with an extra board round the edge to bring the size up to 30".

Good luck with collecting squares and making up blankets Liz - I hope you receive lots and have enough time (and wrist strength!) to make plenty of blankets :-)

White, blue & turquiose

Over the years I've built up an impressive stash of different yarns (mostly acrylic as it's so good for making amigurumi) and because I am fast running out of places to hide it all I've been attempting to do a few 'stash busting' projects to use some of it up.

This cushion for instance is made from the beautiful 'Blooming Flowers cushion' pattern by Lucy of Attic24 and it's a great way to use up some stash. The pattern is simple but works up quickly and is so satisfying to do. I loved seeing this work up and would have kept making it bigger and bigger apart from having a strict time limit that I was working to.

This baby blanket was another stash buster - using the same colours again but this time I chose a pretty circle granny square (another free pattern - this time from Wisecraft) to which I added another row of crochet and did the join as you go method for putting it all together.

Lastly there is this quick baby ball - this time the pattern was in my head - it was worked up in varying sized stripes and I used invisible decreasing to finish it off so there are no noticable holes for the stuffing to peep through.

Ahhh - now I just need to go out and buy some more white and blue yarn :-)

Spring time

Looking outside the sky is so blue and the garden finally looks like spring is here. I've been a very lucky girl recently and also received a few fresh bunches of flowers from good friends which is filling the house with a lovely scent :-)

One of these bunches of flowers is from a friend from one of the toddler groups I helped with back when we lived in London and it was sent as a thank you for the work I put into getting her mother's crochet blanket finished for her recently.

Sadly her mum died last year and while sorting through her belongings she found this blanket that her mum had started but never finished. She was keen to have it finished, but as she doesn't know how to crochet she asked around and I offered to do the work for her.

It was a real labour of love as so much needed to be done for it - including pulling out the occasional 'extra' hexagon which had found its way into the wrong place! Hopefully it'll be much loved, by both my friend and her daughter :-)
